What the Rulz says : ???

Posted by Dharmesh Bhagat in Untagged

We have been playing cricket from so much time now. There are always some ifs and buts during, before and after the game regarding the rules to play cricket. I know one simple rule for cricket - Enjoy and have fun. With so much competitive cricket and titles to be won during tournament games there are more rules to be followed before the game like syncmail deadlines, time deadlines to start the game, rules during the game (no one wants to loose), pressure and heat of the game exchange of words, rules for entering brief scorecard, detail scorecard and what not.
My blog is not to oppose rules or criticize the current rules or anyone here.
Every match we face lot of scenarios which may result in different outcome of the game. Here are few example for the same and I am pretty sure there will be many more. Would really appreciate if we can think about them … and get the rule if there are any.

1. Opponents had not confirmed the game till Friday night. Shall we take Bye and declare ourselves as winner and take 4 points w/o playing a game ?
My Take : If opponents confirm  they are ready to play the game on Friday night too, I would definitely play the game. As a part of team management first of all i would never tell my team that they have not confirmed. in that ways if we do not have a match on game day atlas we can have friendly game or practice session or more breakfast :D What the Rulz says : ???

2.  Match starts at sharp 8:30 am, fielding side is short of player. 11th player is expected to come in 10 mins or so. He comes after 10 overs or may be 16 overs ? Shall we allow that player to play.
My Take : I would not entertain 11th player coming on 16th over. If rest 21 players and umpires can be on field on time why not he. Tip : Take the player name in start of the game and if instead of him if someone else turns up. No way I am going to allow that 11th player on the field. What the Rulz says : ???

3. In absence of neutral leg umpire. Should main umpire given power to over rule decisions including run outs which are quite obvious ?
My Take : Yes please. Leg umpire is after all from Batting side and In the heat of the game his decision are but naturally in favor of his team. What the Rulz says : ???

4. Umpire is no way in line of stumps to give run out. He could not see whether ball was collected or not by fielder when it hit the stumps, he has 100% no idea about ball in hand by fielder during the run out. Should he give out or not out ?
My take : In such scenario fielding team is 100% going to claim for out and batting team for not out. Benefit of doubt should go to Batsman, unless other neutral  umpire too has no clear picture about it. What the Rulz says : ???

5. I know overstepping is free hit, Is no ball due to side line cut also a free hit ?
My take : Should be … What the Rulz says : ???

6. Especially for spinners, sometimes when they ball their toe is in air but behind the line of the crease (i hope you are getting it something like _ ) should that be a no ball or not ?
My take : Not a no ball
What the Rulz says : ???

Piccadilly Pacers:: Journey to the Finals

An Year and a half ago, Gopi Sirineni along with a few like minded friends living around the Piccadilly Park in San Ramon started this team with one ambition....Have fun and win. Vijay Vemulapalli, Ranadhir Chandrupatla and Naren Punati are the few originals in the Pacers team. A few family friends joined hands and helped out make the XI. This team definitely had fun playing the games in their inaugural season of Winter 2008 but the wins were hard to come by. The last league game of that inaugural season was against Tigers that resulted in a loss but the way the guys played made the team believe that they are capable of reaching the pinnacle.

Fishy Business...Whatever Rocks Your Boat...

Posted by pankit patel in Untagged

A rich businessman takes a vacation for a week and goes to a little known fishing village to unwind.  He asks this fisherman to take him to a good fishing spot.  The fisherman knows his way around, takes the rich guy to a spot by the cove.  Within 5 minutes, the fisherman catches 2 big fishes, pulls over the tarp on his dingy fishing boat, lies back and snoozes.  The rich businessman starts fishing and is amazed by the amount of fish he could bait within a short time.  He’s gets ecstatic, wakes up the fisherman and say’s, “I’ll give you an idea, why don’t you fish for 8-10 hours a day, and sell your fish?  You will make a lot of money…”

Bhola XI (B11) vs Chennai 94086 (C9)

Weather :
High 58 and Low 47
0% Precip, Good news is no chances of showers but partly cloudy.
Pitch Report :
360 deg ground, runs all around.
Odd ball stays low, lot of soft mud on the pitch.
Straight boundary may be shorter due to moving of pitch little further ahead.
Best part is now long grass have been cut, so ball will be running away after it leaves the bat.
Tip :
Lot of runs behind the wicket and balls runs away if you do not have players placed on right spot third man and fine leg are key fielders.
Try to play on back foot and running between wickets will be added bonus.

League 2010 Points table :
Both have 8 wins B11 leading by 1 points, but if you consider DRR and no bonus points then C9 leading the table.
Head to Head :
6 times they have meet, B11 have won 5 times, but last time they meet in Open 2009 finals C9 where the winners.
@JH1 :
B11 have played 39 matches and won 33 times, while C9 have won10 of their 17 matches.

Toss :
B11 wins the toss and almost chooses to bat first while C9 have no particular pattern so far.
Latest winning streak :
C9 after break from WL have not lost any games 8 wins in a row, but B11 they are been undefeated since after FLT 2009 finals. i.e. Roughly 15 or 16 wins excluding abandoned and forfeited games.

Top Batsman :
Sanket 102(8), Jay 99(7) and Chintan 94(7) for B11 are leading B11 on the table
Nandhakunar 102(8), Harish 89(6) and Satish 88(5) of C9 are not much behind them.

Top Bowlers :
Arun Rama 11(5) and Harish 11(6) are holding fort for C9 while Ambarish 14(7) and Chirag 10(7) are opening the gates for B11.

What else I would say about these teams. Everyone is familiar about their abilities and win big.  I believe this will be the game of the season. So book your calendar's today and come and support them on Saturday, 22nd May @ John Horner, Fremont.
Other actions :
Royal cup : Rangers vs Kasturi Pade @ Booster Park Imperial cup : Dazzlers vs Mega Blasters @ Centreville
(if time permits more stats coming your way for them as well)

Answer is not outside but inside …

Lot of people on Face book, Twitter and where not are complaining about India's performance in T20 world cup. To be frank I do not care. Personally I do not like the T20 which I call it as CLICK CRICKET. Good in our league of T20, lot of sponsorship and money is not involved. God knows what would be our league with it .
On Face book I was listening to this interesting Video where it talks about current scenario … "Answer is not outside but inside … " struck me and started writing the blog.
